Let’s face it — Eevee has to be one of the cutest Pokemon in all the generations. When it debuted in the first-generation games, Red and Blue, we fell in love with its cuddly appearance.
But what made Eevee truly stand out was its ability to evolve into something even cooler! By using stones and multiple other methods, Eevee now can become 8 different forms!
But which ones are the best (by strength)? Let’s check out the best Eevee evolutions of all time to find out.
8. Leafeon
Leafeon, the Grass-type Eeveelution introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, is certainly a unique addition to the franchise.
It has high Attack and Defense stats, but its Special Attack is rather lacking – which is why it doesn’t find itself at the top of the Eevee evolutions list.
Not helping Leafeon’s cause are its weaknesses to Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug type attacks – these weaknesses can be fairly frequently exploited in battle by opponents.
Despite this setback, Leafeon does learn an incredibly powerful move in Leaf Blade at level 50 and Last Resort at level 55; both excellent moves that any grass-type trainer will appreciate having in their arsenal.
7. Jolteon
Jolteon fans won’t be disappointed, despite its low HP and Attack stats – Jolteon narrowly missed the bottom spot on this list, saved by its outstanding Special Attack stat and impressive Speed.
It’s definitely one of the quickest Pokemon out there! Originally introduced in generation one games Pokemon Red and Blue, Trainers need to evolve from an Eevee to a Jolteon using a Thunder Stone.
As an Electric type, it has only one major weakness with Ground type attacks – but is resistant to Electric type ones. That makes it the perfect Pokémon for countering those pesky Pikachus that never fail to pop up!
6. Sylveon
Introduced in the sixth generation of Pokemon games, Sylveon is a Fairy type Pokemon that can be evolved from an Eevee through knowing a fairy type move and having two or more levels of Affection (or, in later games, having a high Friendship level).
In terms of stats, this Pokemon has an average HP stat but unfortunately its attack cannot compete with other powerful competitors. However, that doesn’t point out the fact that Sylveon’s Sp Atk and Sp Def stats are incredible!
With few weaknesses to steel and poison attacks only, Sylveon can make up for its shortcomings through it’s diverse moveset. As Sylveon reaches higher levels it learns powerful moves such as Moonblast – a strong Fairy type attack – at level 50 and Last Resort at level 55.
Slyveon may not be the strongest with respectable stats yet looking upon its rarity and unique abilities this pokemon still stands out as a formidable adversary!
5. Vaporeon
With it’s high HP, Vaporeon is definitely one of the more tough Pokemon out there. Not only that, but its Sp Atk makes the eeveelution perfect for just about any battle.
Being a Water type, it meshes well with many types of other Pokemon and its weaknesses are limited to Electric and Grass type attacks, giving you an edge against most opponents in battle.
Leveling up your Vaporeon has added benefits as well – at level 50 your eeveelution learns Hydro Pump, which is a fantastic Water type Attack. Interesting enough, at level 55 it will learn Last Resort, which is a great move but you can only use it after all other moves have been used in a battle.
Vaporeon is truly an amazing Pokemon and with some training you’ll be able to see the power of this eeveelution!
4. Glaceon
Despite having lower stats for HP and Attack, Glaceon really shines when it comes to its Sp Atk stat. This fourth generation Ice type Pokemon was introduced alongside Leafeon in the Diamond and Pearl games – but don’t let that fool you; Glaceon can be quite a formidable Pokémon when used properly.
Its defensive capabilities are also surprisingly strong despite being weak against Fire, Fighting, Rock and Steel type attacks. Moreover, at level 50, Glaceon learns the powerful Blizzard move which hits hard with a 70% chance of connecting – as well as freezing the opponent!
Clearly there is still strong potential for this adorable icy eeveelution despite its deficiencies elsewhere – enough to earn a spot on our list of the best Ice type Pokémon!
3. Espeon
Espeon first made its appearance in the second-generation Pokemon games, Gold and Silver. With its impressive Sp Atk stat combined with a decent Speed and Defence stat, Espeon is an incredibly useful Psychic type Pokemon.
Despite having weaknesses to Bug, Ghost and Dark type attacks, these can be managed well with defensive strategies. Moreover, Espeon learns Future Sight at level 50 – an attack that strikes after two turns have passed – and Last Resort at level 55; both are extremely powerful moves that make it a formidable opponent to have on your team.
If you’re looking for a good pick from the Eevee evolutionary family, then Espeon certainly won’t fail to impress. Not to forget its gorgeous looks – it also graces our list of best Cat Pokemon!
2. Umbreon
Introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver, Umbreon joined Espeon as a part of the second generation of Pokemon titles.
With a higher HP total than Espeon and impressive Sp Def stat that is only weak to Fighting, Bug and Fairy attacks, Umbreon proves itself close to the top of Eevee evolution lists. But what’s even better is that it has immunity to Psychic type moves.
At level 50 you can expect to learn Mean Look; Dark Pulse at 40 and Last Resort at 55 – making Umbreon a great contender for any team. After review, it’s no surprise why Umbreon is beloved by players across all continents!
1. Flareon
Although only one of the three OG Eevee evolutions from Pokemon Red and Blue, Flareon certainly proves itself a strong contender for the crown!
Boasting impressive Attack, Sp Atk and Sp Def stats, this Fire type performance package can take a good amount of damage as well as dish it out with its level 50 move, Flare Blitz. While beware that this move does have the downside of injuring the user some too, there’s the always welcome Last Resort at level 55 to make up for that.
There’s no denying why this pup is climbing its way to being crowned ‘the best Eevee evolution’ – Flareon truly is one mega Pokemon to reckon with!
